Under the hood

How Cobalt connects to X-Plane.

The Cobalt Bridge runs on the same computer as X-Plane and reads the sim through its built-in network interface. There is no plugin to drop into the X-Plane folder and nothing to configure by hand.

Your iPhone or iPad finds the Bridge on your Wi-Fi on its own. With Peak, Relay carries the same connection over cellular when you leave the house.

Versions
X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12. The Bridge detects the version and uses the right datarefs for each.
Computers
Windows 10 or later, or macOS 13 or later. The same Bridge for both.
In the sim
No plugin and no aircraft mods. Telemetry and commands use X-Plane's own datarefs.
Add-ons
Tracking works with every aircraft. Some study-level aircraft with custom systems expose fewer remote controls.
VATSIM
Turn on xPilot messaging in the Bridge and ATC private messages reach your phone.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Which versions of X-Plane?

X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12 on Windows or macOS.

Does the Bridge need a plugin in X-Plane?

No plugin to install by hand. Run the Bridge on the same machine as X-Plane and it connects on its own.

Does ATC messaging work on X-Plane?

Yes, on VATSIM through xPilot. Enable xPilot messaging in Bridge Settings and point xPilot at Cobalt. It takes two taps.

Does it work with add-on aircraft?

Yes. Telemetry works for everything. Some study-level aircraft with custom systems expose fewer remote controls.

Is there an X-Plane companion app for iPhone?

Yes. Cobalt is a free X-Plane companion app for iPhone and iPad. Install the free Bridge on the computer running X-Plane and your flight appears on the phone with a live map, Lock Screen tracking, and live readouts.

Can I use my iPhone as an X-Plane remote?

Yes, with Peak. Set autopilot targets, flip lights, start engines, switch cameras, and pause the sim from iPhone or iPad. On home Wi-Fi it connects directly. Relay reaches the sim from anywhere.

Does it work with X-Plane on a Mac?

Yes. The Bridge runs on macOS 13 or later and on Windows 10 or later. Install it on the same computer as X-Plane.

Does Cobalt replace my EFB or charts?

No. Cobalt is a companion. It reads the sim and sends commands to the aircraft you have loaded. Your EFB, charts, and navigation data stay with the tools you already use.
